ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week. 

Our Central Office is based a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station, Angel station is a 15 minute walk away

ABOUT YOU

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Adequate understanding of the importance and mechanics of document control and writing policy and procedure
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format

This is an exciting role to lead on Safe Ground's programme delivery, including content creation and producing, with a strategic direction!

SIG Safe Ground is an award-winning charity which delivers high-quality, group work interventions to people in prison and community settings. 

Our arts-based therapeutic group work focuses on relationships and identity, particularly in reclaiming and reframing imposed identities while offering access to new perspectives, creating opportunities for discussion and debate, and inviting participants to take risks, experiencing themselves and each other in new ways.

You will report to the Head of Criminal Justice Services and line manage the programmes coordinator, as well as work closely with our services based within HMP Lowdham Grange and HMP Altcourse. You will lead on the development of new creative work, identifying gaps and opportunities, working alongside various teams to open new business opportunities to secure funding, and facilitate the programmes we deliver, mainly in prisons and community settings. We are looking for someone to bring a new creative outlook, able to be agile and think of new ways to promote Safe Ground, and develop our resources, this could include delivering theatre productions, films, and podcasts. 

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 9 - 5 although you may need to work outside these hours as required. The role will be hybrid, working from home, our central office in Islington, and able to visit various sites across London, Nottingham, Liverpool, and additional locations as required.

• Manage a network of delivery sites and ensure contractual compliance, in locations which include but is not limited to prisons and community settings.

• Provide strategic operational leadership and direction for Safe Ground, support with the continuation of finding new and existing opportunities working alongside various leadership teams.
• Lead on new contracts, supporting teams to ensure new contracts are implemented to a high standard following correct processes and policy.

The RCR is a charity with a focus on supporting doctors who deliver medical imaging and cancer services and we require a passionate and dynamic finance professional to helps us continue making a difference.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. In this role you will be responsible for the operational finance function which handles accounting, financial reporting, planning and transactional activities as well as supporting longer-term strategic planning.

As a finance professional you will use your expertise to further support the RCR by delivering the organisations financial objectives and build strong working relationships with managers to equip them with the tools to make good financial decisions. About this role

This role is an opportunity to participate in the global movement to protect the natural world; meeting and supporting incredible communities and organisations driving change to secure a sustainable future. You will be supporting our partners and carrying out grant administration in the Amphibian and Congo Basin Programmes, for which proficiency in both French and English is essential.

The role will be a fundamental part of Synchronicity Earth’s Programmes team (currently a team of seven people), working to help develop and grow the support we provide to our partners (grantees) across our programmes. Please note that first-stage interviews for this role will be conducted in both French and English.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

• Manage some grantee partner relationships, including building trust and openness, identifying capacity needs, administrating grants, monitoring progress and fulfilling reporting requirements.
• Provide administrative support across the Programmes Team with grant management e.g. preparing of grant paperwork, reviewing partner reports and checklists (proposals), monitoring pipelines.
• Undertake research in focal areas for the Programmes Team, such as identifying intervention points and opportunities to make a difference in conservation.
• Contribute to communication products, including donor reports and applications, to support Synchronicity Earth’s fundraising and philanthropic goals.
• Produce and contribute to board papers and discussions.
• Update and undertake due diligence.
• Manage and maintain partner database, including data entry, preparing reports and basic analysis.
• Contribute to the development of Synchronicity Earth’s processes and systems around partner management and due diligence.

We are a medium-sized charity which supports partners working to protect less well-known species and ecosystems around the world that receive less attention but face the greatest threats. Essential

• Proficient written and spoken English equivalent to C1 or C2 level.

• Bachelor’s degree or three or more years’ work experience in a relevant area. This could be lived experience, volunteering, or work experience related to sectors such as biodiversity conservation, social justice, environmental protection, community organizing, or engagement with political and social movements.
• Demonstrable interest in ecology, endangered species and biodiversity conservation, social justice, or community organising.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality written materials.
• Computer literacy.

• Experience in Africa (especially lived experience in West or Central Africa).

This position is a permanent full-time position that is based in the Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with 2 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). Annual leave

25 days per year for a full-time position (in addition to public holidays), adjusted for part-time. World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI) leads and unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe and the Americas. Our shared vision is a world where no one develops a preventable cancer.

WCRFI is responsible for the Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global) which is our global cancer prevention and survival programme focussing on the links between diet, nutrition, physical activity and cancer. Forming the cornerstone of all our work, the project is the only authoritative scientific resource of its kind in the world.

We are seeking a Head of Research Interpretation who will be responsible for managing the delivery of CUP Global. You will chair the CUP Global Secretariat and also provide support to the Assistant Director of Research and Policy and the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation in the oversight and strategic direction of the programme of work. You will also contribute to other projects such as ensuring that the WCRF network has the latest global cancer statistics, including new estimates of the preventability of cancer. 

You will be educated to PhD level, with ideally at least 2 years postdoctoral experience in a research environment, in a relevant area (e.g. nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public health). You will have a good understanding of public health and epidemiology, nutrition and/or cancer and have experience of conducting and/or interpreting systematic reviews. You will have strong people management skills, with direct line management experience.

Together, our aim is to transform humanitarian action through innovation, fast funding, early action, and locally driven humanitarian action. We're tackling what we believe are the biggest systemic problems that the sector faces. Problems including slow and reactive funding, centralised decision-making, and an aversion to change mean that people affected by crises around the world do not receive the best help fast enough, and needless suffering results. JOB PURPOSE

This senior management role will enable strategic thinking and design, influence diverse stakeholders, adapt agile ways of working and drive change in line with the vision of the Network.

Awareness of power and political dynamics and sensitivity to different contexts and cultures is crucial. It also requires high levels of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, using your position connect, enable and influence others. You will be skilled at building relationships and brokering partnerships with empathy, credibility and equity. Listening and valuing diverse perspectives to build an inclusive team will be key to success. Solid programme and budget management will be critical to enabling the hubs vision and activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, development planning

• With members and hubs, co-design, develop and enable the evolution of Start Network of Networks, including hubs.
• Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of support, expertise and services to hubs
• Work closely with the Membership and Assurance teams to support iNGO and member intake through hubs.

• Work with hubs and the Start Network team to create a culture of evidence-based decision making, feedback and learning so that we can adapt support to emerging needs.
• Advise senior leadership on hub issues and strategy Partnership brokering and relationship management
• Foster and broker positive and enabling relationships and partnerships within hubs, between hubs and between hubs and Start Network Secretariat.
• Effectively manage complex issues which arise out of shifting power dynamics ensuring teams and stakeholders work towards a common vision; Resolve any conflicts and address issues that may arise within hubs, promoting constructive dialogue.
• Work with the Advocacy and External Affairs team to help raise hub voices and perspectives in local and global forums.
• Influence and advocate internally and externally for locally driven humanitarian action, creating and holding space to support the emergence of hubs based on their aspirations, priorities and needs.

• Inspire, lead and motivate a high performing, diverse global team
• Management of direct reports, including recruiting, training and playing an active role in building an inclusive team culture in line with Start Network values
• Monitor individual and team performance and ensure objectives and outcomes are met or exceeded; address poor performance and recognise good performance

PROFILE AND SKILLS

• At least 7-10 years’ experience in a management/senior management role in the humanitarian, development or social enterprise sectors
• Demonstrated ability to think and operate at both strategic and operational levels
• Demonstrated experience in inclusive leadership
• Demonstrated experience in relationship management, partnership brokering and influencing across a diversity of geographies, skillsets and personalities.
• Demonstrated experience in managing programmes and budgets
• Demonstrated experience in inspiring, motivating and managing a diverse and high-performing team
• Demonstrated problem solving skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
• Demonstrated curiosity and growth mindset, including experience in testing, learning, and iterating.
• Knowledge of and political sensitivity to the broader political context and power dynamics within the humanitarian sector operates.
• Ability to work flexibly across different time zones.
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English, working knowledge of French, Spanish or another hub language desirable.
